Kitty Shoulda Had A Helmet

Me and Allen had a fantastic time down in Lake Powell. We played in the sun all day everyday. And we have the sunburns to prove it. I have photos that I will upload soon, but as for now, I have a little story.

We were maybe 25 minutes from being home. We had just gotten out of the canyon in Spanish Fork and were driving along the dark highway enjoying some conversation with my cousin David. Lining the middle of the highway were the big orange construction barrells. All of a sudden, dashing out from behind one of the barrells, came a kitty.

Poor thing didn't even have a chance. Allen yelled, naturally, because it scared him half to death, which caused me to scream in total fright. (I had been turned around talking to my cousin who was sitting in the back seat) So when Allen yelled, I turned screaming expecting to see semi-truck headlights just seconds from hitting us. But nooooo, I turned, and THUD THUD. :-( It was so sad. Allen said "We just hit a cat." I was so shaky. 1) because of the adrenaline that was pumping, and 2) because I was so sad that we had ended all 9 lives of this cat all at ONCE.

We pulled over to a gas station to see the damage. The cat hit so hard(at 75 mph) that it cracked the front left of our bumper and tore back some of our protective plating under the car. Yikes! Tough kitty I suppose...but alas.....not tough enough...
